Shaping the Future of Connectivity — One Chip at a Time

Founded in 2008, Espressif has grown from a small team of wireless enthusiasts into a global force powering over 120 million connected devices annually.

Our Mission

To democratize wireless connectivity by designing chipsets that are powerful enough for enterprise IoT yet accessible enough for every maker, startup, and system integrator on the planet. We believe the best technology is the one that removes barriers — not creates them.

Our Vision

A world where every device is intelligently connected — where ambient computing is seamless, secure, and sustainable. We are building toward a future where wireless modules are as ubiquitous and invisible as the air they transmit through.

Key Milestones

2008

Founded in Shanghai by a team of wireless IC designers with backgrounds from Marvell and Realtek, focusing exclusively on Wi-Fi connectivity chipsets.

2014

Released the ESP8266 — a $2 Wi-Fi module that became the catalyst for the maker and IoT developer movement, selling 10 million units within 18 months of launch.

2016

Launched the ESP32 dual-core SoC with integrated Wi-Fi + Bluetooth, establishing the platform architecture that now powers the majority of our product line.

2019

Listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE: 688018), raising capital to expand R&D into RISC-V and AI inference silicon.

2021

Shipped first production RISC-V wireless SoC (ESP32-C3), transitioning from licensed ARM cores to fully in-house processor design.

2023

Achieved Matter 1.0 certification — among the first chipset vendors globally — and surpassed 100 million cumulative modules shipped.
