Which ESP32 Board Should You Trust? The Short Answer Isn’t “Official”

If you’ve ever gotten a batch of development boards only to find that half of them have loose connectors or inconsistent pin markings, you know that sinking feeling. I’ve been there. Take it from someone who’s rejected dozens of shipments: the upfront savings on a third-party board can evaporate quickly when you factor in debugging time, delayed timelines, and field failures. But if you know what you’re doing and your tolerance for risk is high, they’re a viable option. Just don’t blame Espressif when your “ESP32 compatible” board behaves differently.
